Sometimes going to a new church, or thinking about for the first time in your life may feel daunting, however we want to make you feel very welcome and thought these questions might help you to find out more about us, so here goes….

How big is the church?

Our church, founded 1815  has grown into a healthy and vibrant congregation. We currently have over 120 members. Our 10.30 a.m. service averages around 70 people and our evening service is of a smaller attendance.

What time is your Sunday worship service?

We have 2 services each Sunday.  Our 10.30 a.m. service is relaxed with a variety of songs, familiar hymns and we have a music group.  The service is usually led by the speaker and usually includes a children’s talk before they go out to their groups.  Our evening service is quieter and is more traditional, although not always!

What do you offer for children on Sunday morning and other times?

Children are a special part of our congregation and we value them as full participants in the life of our church. For more details visit our  - ‘Kids Page’

Who goes to your church?

We have quite a mixture of people at Mansfield Baptist.  Our congregation truly spans the ages, from newborns to folks in their 80s. and 90’s You’ll find just about every type of person here – married, single, divorced, widowed – professionals, workers, retired – life-long Mansfield residents and those who have just recently moved here. But even more important than the kind of people who go here is the kind of people who are welcome here – everyone!

Do I have to be a Baptist to attend?

Not at all!

Do you have to dress up to attend your worship service?

No!  Dressing up is not a requirement to worship with us. Some do wear their “Sunday best” but you’ll see us in our everyday clothes, whatever that is and whatever is most comfortable to you.  We believe the most important part about Sunday is showing up, ready to worship God.

What kind of things do you do in your worship service?

We strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Mansfield We greet each other so everyone feels welcomed; we share church news; we sing, we laugh, we share the congregation’s joys and concerns and lift them to God in prayer; we read the Bible and listen to what it means through the sermon; we collect an offering to further God’s work; and we take communion twice a month.

Can a visitor take communion?

Yes! We take communion each week as a tangible reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion – that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.
